WWI Draft Registration Card (1917-1918) for Lester B. Van Wicklen, residing at 105 Main, Hempstead, Nassau, NY. Born - 8 Feb 1888, Brookville, NY. He was a collector on train (L.I.R.R.) Jamaica, NY. He was single at time of registration. He listed his sister as nearest relative. He is described as medium height and build with brown eyes and dark brown hair (not bald).

Email from Michael Wolfe, 10 Jan 2003: Notes on Paul Frederick Van Wicklen (NY Holland Society application). Application to the Holland Society was sponsored by Noerman W. Van Nostrand and seconded by Walter H. Van Husen. Address at time of application to the Holland Society was 1--5 Fort Salonga Road, Northport, NY. Belonged to Delta Nu Alpha (Syracuse) National Transportation Society. Hobbies: Ornithology, hiking, conservation, history, stamps. Listed "Republican" on application. Worked at the NY Port Authority in promotion of foreign commerce thru the port, and then as editor of the magazine "via the Port of New York".

In article in the New York Times Dec 28, 1975, p. 32: "The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has announced to appointment of Paul F. Van Wicklen as port promotion manager. Mr. Van Wicklen who has been with the agency for over 25 years, was supervising editor in the agency's World Trade Development, and editor of its magazine Via Port of New York. He succeeds Robert F. Unrath, who retired recently." US Air Force 1943-46 Sgt. 8th Air Force Radio Operator/Gunner. US Air Force Reserve 1948-53 2nd Lieut. 1945 Air Medal."
